The 7,000-Mile-a-Week Legend… and the Unionized Birds
Ladies and gentlemen, today we present another episode of “Things That Didn’t Age Well.”
Every trucking group has that guy.
You know the one.
«”Brother, I LIVE on the road.”»
«”I ain’t been home in six weeks.”»
«”I run so hard I gotta stop just to remember what state I’m in.”»
«”7,000 miles a week, easy.”»
Really?
Because…
…there’s a fucking dove raising a family on your tractor.
Not landing.
Not taking a coffee break.
Not stopping for directions.
Building equity.
That bird didn’t fly in there during your 30-minute break at Love’s.
That bird:
– Found the perfect location.
– Brought hundreds of sticks.
– Decorated the place.
– Signed a lease.
– Invited the wife.
– Started laying eggs.
– Is probably paying property taxes by now.
Meanwhile you’re still telling Facebook how you’ve “been grinding non-stop.”
—
Here’s the thing about trucking.
Drivers love horsepower.
Companies love gross revenue.
Dispatchers love pretending everything’s under control.
But birds?
Birds don’t give a shit about your stories.
Birds operate entirely on facts.
A bird looks at your tractor and asks one simple question:
«”Is this thing gonna move?”»
If the answer is…
“No.”
Congratulations.
You’ve just been approved for Avian Residential Development.
—
Imagine explaining this to a broker.
“Sorry, I can’t pick up until tomorrow.”
“Mechanical issue?”
“No.”
“DOT inspection?”
“No.”
“Family emergency?”
“No…”
“…my tenants haven’t fledged yet.”
—
The funniest part?
The owner probably posts motivational quotes every morning.
«”Hustle while they sleep.”»
Brother…
THEY’RE sleeping because they’re literally nesting on your tractor.
—
Small details never lie.
Anybody can claim:
– 4,000 miles.
– 5,000 miles.
– 7,000 miles.
– 9,000 miles if they’re feeling especially creative.
But nature doesn’t care about your Facebook résumé.
Nature performs the most honest audit in trucking.
No ELD.
No Qualcomm.
No GPS.
Just…
«”Yep… this tractor hasn’t moved in a while. Let’s raise the kids here.”»
—
And before anyone gets offended…
This isn’t about sitting.
There’s nothing wrong with sitting.
Freight gets slow.
People take vacations.
Trucks break.
Life happens.
But don’t spend half the day telling everybody you’re America’s hardest-working owner-operator…
…while a pair of doves is reviewing kindergarten options from the top corner of your tractor.
—
At Voyager, we believe in a radical concept:
You don’t need to pretend.
Some weeks are killers.
Some weeks are slow.
Some weeks you’re making money.
Some weeks you’re watching brokers invent new ways to insult your intelligence.
That’s trucking.
The truth is already entertaining enough.
You don’t need to add fictional mileage.
Because eventually…
…a bird is going to call your bluff.
And unlike Facebook…
Birds don’t comment.
They just move in.
