Does Your Dispatcher Make Brokers Cry? Ours Do

Before anyone starts writing angry LinkedIn posts…

Relax. We’re not evil.

We don’t yell at brokers. We don’t threaten brokers. We don’t burn bridges.

That would be bad business.

We simply negotiate so well that sometimes… they quietly stare at the rate confirmation, take a deep breath, and question every career decision they’ve made that morning.

That’s not our fault.

Our dispatchers are actually very nice people.

They’re polite. Professional. Respectful.

They’ll thank the broker for their time…

…right after negotiating another few hundred dollars for our Owner-Operators.

See? Classy.

—

At Voyager Nation, we have this strange philosophy.

We believe a dispatcher has exactly one customer.

The Owner-Operator.

Not the broker.

The broker already has someone fighting for them.

They’re called…

the broker.

Why on earth would your dispatcher join their team?

Yet somehow thousands of dispatchers across America negotiate like they’re trying to earn Employee of the Month at the brokerage.

“Well… that’s all they have.”

“We don’t want to upset them.”

“They’re good people.”

Fantastic.

Your truck payment accepts sympathy now?

—

Our dispatchers negotiate with a smile.

A broker says,

“That’s the best I can do.”

Our dispatcher smiles.

“We appreciate that… but we’re going to need another $500.”

Broker smiles.

Dispatcher smiles.

Owner-Operator smiles.

Broker cries a little on the inside.

Everyone remains professional.

Mission accomplished.

—

Here’s the funny part.

The best brokers don’t even get mad.

They know exactly who they’re dealing with.

They know if Voyager Nation calls, the conversation won’t be:

“Can you do it cheaper?”

It’ll be:

“Explain why our truck should haul this load for that price.”

If the numbers make sense…

We’ll book it.

If they don’t…

We’ll wish them a wonderful day and let someone else discover the exciting business opportunity known as hauling freight for free.

—

Some people think we’re hard on brokers.

Not true.

We love brokers.

Without brokers…

Who would we negotiate with?

We’re simply committed to making sure our Owner-Operators don’t accidentally become unpaid volunteers for the American freight industry.

That’s a public service.

You’re welcome.

—

Most of our Owner-Operators agree there’s nothing cuter than watching a broker cry…

…while smiling.

Well…

Maybe puppies.

Maybe kittens.

But after that?

A broker saying,

“Okay… fine… you win.”

That’s pretty adorable.

—

If your dispatcher thinks every broker’s first offer is a gift from heaven…

If “No” is a word they’ve forgotten exists…

If their negotiation strategy consists of saying,

“Sounds good!”

…it might be time for an upgrade.

At Voyager Nation, our dispatchers don’t negotiate to impress brokers.

They negotiate to put more money on our Owner-Operators’ trucks.

Sometimes…

That just happens to make brokers cry.

With a smile.
