One of the funniest arguments on social media is:
“I’ve never seen that.”
As if personal experience defines reality.
I’ve never seen Antarctica.
Doesn’t mean penguins are government propaganda.
I’ve never owned a Bugatti.
Pretty sure they still exist.
Your experience matters.
It just isn’t the entire trucking industry.
…Until It Becomes a Prison.
Experience teaches lessons.
Good operators constantly update those lessons.
Bad operators defend them forever.
Markets change.
Technology changes.
Customers change.
Strategies change.
Some people adapt.
Others proudly announce,
“I’ve been doing it this way for 25 years.”
Sometimes that’s wisdom.
Sometimes that’s simply a very long time doing the same mistake.
Some people honestly believe successful carriers have access to a secret load board.
A secret broker list.
A secret customer database.
A secret handshake.
The truth is much less exciting.
Successful companies usually do a thousand little things better.
Better planning.
Better negotiation.
Better timing.
Better relationships.
Better decisions.
That’s a terrible conspiracy theory.
Because it’s boring.
Social media rewards confidence.
Not accuracy.
The loudest comment isn’t automatically the smartest.
In fact…
The people actually making money are usually too busy moving freight to argue with strangers all day.
Meanwhile…
The guy writing a five-paragraph explanation about why success is impossible…
Has somehow found unlimited free time.
Curious.
Healthy skepticism asks:
“How are they doing it?”
Cynicism says:
“They’re lying.”
One question makes you smarter.
The other keeps you exactly where you are.
Nobody says every owner-operator is netting $8,000 every week.
Nobody says every market is great.
Nobody says trucking is easy.
But if hundreds of owner-operators are quietly doing something…
Maybe…
Just maybe…
Before declaring it impossible…
Ask what they know that you don’t.
Because the fastest way to stop learning…
Is convincing yourself you already know everything.

The Freight Market Refuses to Die (And Apparently Nobody Told Florida)
Every week trucking experts predict the market is about to collapse.
Every week owner-operators call us asking if they should panic.
And every week some poor dispatcher somewhere accepts a 1,400-mile load for $1.65 per mile because “it’s heading in the right direction.”
Meanwhile…
Voyager trucks spent another week quietly committing acts of freight violence.
Forget economics.
Forget freight futures.
Forget the guy on YouTube recording from his truck bunk explaining why civilization is ending.
Let’s talk money.
The first week of June delivered exactly what disciplined owner-operators want to see: strong opportunities across the Southeast, Midwest, and East Coast.
A few highlights:
- Ochlocknee, GA → Vineland, NJ: $5.22 per mile
- Meridian, MS → Camp Hill, PA: $5.12 per mile
- Monticello, AR → Guymon, OK: $5.07 per mile
- Walterboro, SC → Buffalo, NY: $4.72 per mile
- Mobile, AL → Glens Falls, NY: $5,500 total revenue
- East Point, GA → Denver, CO: $5,500 total revenue
Not bad for a market that social media declared dead approximately 47 times this year.
Every week there is one load that should not be used to judge the market.
This is that load.
China, TX → Orange, TX
- 38 miles
- $1,000 revenue
- $26.32 per mile
Before anybody asks where to find these loads, relax.
This is what we call a Freight Unicorn.
A rare creature usually created by:
- Emergency freight
- Customer rescue situations
- Last-minute disasters
- Somebody else’s problem becoming somebody else’s paycheck
Can you build an entire business around loads like this?
Absolutely.
For about six hours.
The truck probably spent more time collecting paperwork than actually driving.
Still, at $26.32 per mile, we feel obligated to congratulate whoever was lucky enough to receive that rate confirmation.
According to internet trucking economists, Florida is supposedly a freight wasteland.
The actual freight says otherwise.
Throughout the week we saw strong freight moving:
- Florida → Texas
- Florida → North Carolina
- Florida → Mississippi
- Florida → Alabama
- Florida → Georgia
- Northeast → Florida returns
No, Florida isn’t producing magical 2021 rates.
But it also isn’t the disaster some people keep pretending it is.
The market continues rewarding carriers that know where to position trucks and when to move them.
